AVD Slide Show is a nice utility you can use to easily view a sequence of images as a slide show, each image being shown for some predetermined time before going on to the next. You just point it to a file in folder, say how long to display each picture, select transition effects and then sit back and watch. If a picture is too large or less for your screen, it is resized to fit keeping the aspect ratio.
AVD Slide Show is simple to use and doesn't need a special knowledge.

• Load up multiple formats of images including tif, tiff, fax, gif, jpg, jpeg, jpe, pcx, bmp, dib, rle, ico, cur, png, wmf, emf, tga, targa, pxm, ppm, pgm, pbm.
• View the slideshow with 150 transitional effects.
• Preview the images.
• Save specific file format parameters and save preview dialogs.
• Export AVIs from your image sequence.
• Resample the images on-the-fly prior to loading them up on screen.
• You will get perfectly centered images each time.
• The number of images is shown in the bottom left corner of the window (when the first image out of 50 is displayed, it reads 1/50).
• Slide show Auto-start.
• Slide show direction buttons.
• Sequence options (forward, reverse, and random).
• Slide delay adjustment.
• Transition delay adjustment.
• Full screen mode is available.
• Hide cursor on full screen mode.
• Background color or image selection.

• Open AVD Slide Show by clicking its icon on the Windows Start Menu or double clicking the icon on your desktop.
• A dialog allows you to select a directory from which the files will be taken. Use a filter to limit the search to one type of file, such as JPG.
• Click the Play button to begin the slide show. Press the Esc key to close slide show window.
• When you are done click Exit. Another way to exit is to click the X in the upper right corner

• Sequence
  In view mode, one or more images are available for viewing using the Next image, Previous image, etc. commands. These images make up the active image sequence. The number of images in the sequence and the number of the currently viewed image within the sequence are shown in the status bar.
  In Slide Show mode, the images are shown from the list in the selected order (forward, reverse, and random).
  
• Image changing
  There are settings for how long each image will be shown; click the option button of your choice. The top option plays the next image automatically after a number of seconds; type a number into the box to change the timing. The second option will cause the viewer to wait until you touch a key on the keyboard or click the mouse before displaying the next image.
  
• Auto image size
  The Auto-shrink to fit and Auto-enlarge to fit commands specify that AVD Slide Show should automatically shrink or enlarge each image to fit the window or screen when it is displayed.
  
• Transition effect
  Transitional Effects makes viewing the images more pleasureable. There are 3 options:
  The first option plays the slide show with one transition effect; type a number into the box to change the timing. The second option plays the next image in slide show with random transition effect. The third option plays the slide show without transition effect.
  
• Background
  You can specify background color, background image and background image style of slide show window.
  
• File name
  Click "Show" to display the name of the image as it appears on screen.
  
• AVI export
  Specify frame width and frame height for a exported file. Type a number into the box to change the frame delay. Select a color of empty space.
